Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment could potentially be planning to create its own regional sports channel, according to a report by the Toronto Star. Sources tell the Toronto Star the channel would likely show Leafs, Raptors and Toronto FC games. Reports indicate creating its own channel could generate billions of dollars for MLSE, as the move could allow the company to partake in revenue generated by television advertising during games. It's expected MLSE would first have to engage in complex negotiations with cable operators and advertisers alike.

The Star reports it would be a risky move for MLSE, as the current broadcasting deals are complex and give strong marketing and advertising for the games.
The report comes after new the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan decided it would not hold its share in MLSE at this time.
