Sportsnet Secures TV, Online and Mobile Rights for UEFA Champions League

Sportsnet has reached a three-year partnership extension with UEFA through the 2014-15 season, continuing the network’s status as Canada’s home of UEFA Champions League soccer.
The new agreement includes multimedia rights for television, online and mobile, and the rights to broadcast 146 matches on Sportsnet.

Additionally, through Sportsnet’s agreement with TVA Sports, the deal also includes expanded French-language coverage across the same platforms with a minimum of 34 matches to be broadcast on TVA Sports per season.
The renewal extends Sportsnet’s partnership with the UEFA Champions League, which dates back to 2009.
“UEFA Champions League is one of the world’s most prestigious soccer tournaments with a rich history that resonates with Canadian soccer fans across countless communities and cultures,” said Navaid Mansuri, Vice-President of Finance & Sports Programming, Rogers Media. “Sportsnet is Canada’s premiere destination for all things soccer, and we are thrilled to continue our partnership with UEFA. The new agreement bolsters Sportsnet’s already robust portfolio of soccer programming and solidifies our commitment to delivering viewers premium sporting events across multiple platforms.”
For the next three years, Sportsnet will provide multi-platform coverage of UEFA Champions League including:
· Qualifying Rounds
· Playoff Round
· Group Stage
· Knockout Phase (Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals)
· Championship Final
