Canada lost two million jobs in April as a result of pandemic-related shutdowns, the biggest single-month decline on record, Statistics Canada reported on Friday. ” These numbers tell us what we already knew, that right now Canadians are hurting because of this pandemic” said Trudeau in his daily briefing. “Everyone has their own story and it all boils down to a very difficult time for a lot people”  he added. Forecasters expected 4 million jobs would be lost. The drop in employment adds to the 1 million decline in March. The jobless rate jumped to 13 per cent in April, the agency said Friday in Ottawa.
