Municipalities across Canada are getting an extra financial boost to help them through the COVID-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced $2.2 billion Monday which will be delivered through the federal Gas Tax Fund. “From testing clinics to program for seniors, cities and towns provide essential services so it’s crucial that they have the resources they need” said Trudeau. The Gas Tax Fund for 2020-21, which is normally delivered in two instalments, will be paid out immediately, he said. Letters have been sent to provinces and territories to outline how the accelerated process will work.
