Land border travellers need to show negative PCR test – Trudeau

137

Non-essential travellers entering Canada through the land border will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test as of next Monday  before arrival, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Tuesday.

“Update on border measures: As of February 15th, when you return to Canada through a land border, you’ll need to show a negative PCR test result from the past 72 hours – just like you would if you were flying back into the country,” Trudeau said in a tweet.

The prime minister said border officers can’t legally deny entry to Canadians, but those who show up without proof of a test could face fines of up to $3,000.
