Prime Minister Doug Ford said Thursday that the province has upped the number of phone lines for Teleheath Ontario, the telephone health service where many people are being directed with questions about possible COVID-19 symptoms, from 400 to 2,000 in the past 24 hours. Telehealth Ontario was down for part of the day Wednesday, prompting Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott to send out a
statement saying additional resources were on the way.
Speaking to reporters today at Queen’s Park, Ford also said Ontario is suspending all eviction notices, as well as all requirements to renew drivers’ licenses, health cards and license plates. “It’s just one less things to worry about,” he said. Ford has recalled the legislature for an emergency session on Thursday, which MPPs are expected to pass emergency legislation aimed at
protecting workers forced to stay home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
