Toronto’s mayor, John Tory said on Tuesday that the city’s technology community is optimistic that the COVID-19 crisis will be followed by a period of rapid innovation like the one that followed the 2008-9
financial downturn. Speaking at the opening of a three-day conference that had to be conducted entirely online, Tory said the pandemic has caused damage to the city’s economy but the crisis has also taught valuable lessons that should lead to permanent change.
He expressed optimism over Collision 2021 edition and to welcome visitors again next year.
Collision 2020 from Home, kicked off earlier on Wednesday with thousands of online attendees. The event provides a unique virtual program for international participants who want to learn more about the vibrant tech sector.
