Canada Extends Direct Passenger Flights Ban From India Until September 21
Canada has extended its ban on direct passenger flights from India until September 21 amid difficulties to contain the spread of COVID-19 within its borders, Transport Canada said on Monday.
“Based on the latest public health advice from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Transport Canada is extending the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) that restricts all direct commercial and private passenger flights to Canada from India until September 21, 2021, at 23:59 EDT,” the department said in a statement on Monday.
“While Canada continues to trend in the right direction, the epidemiological situation and vaccination coverage are not the same around the world,” a statement from Transport Canada said.
“The government of Canada continues to advise Canadians to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada – international travel increases the risk of exposure to Covid-19 and its variants, as well as of spreading it to others,” the agency added.
