Strict new rules for travelers to Canada come into effect
Strict new rules for anyone travelling to Canada came into effect on Monday, which requires anyone flying into Canada to be subject to a PCR-style test for COVID-19 after they land.
Travellers also are required to have arranged a three-night stay at a designated quarantine hotel near the Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal or Calgary airport.
Passengers must pre-book their hotel stay before arriving in Canada.
On Friday, the federal government posted online a list of approved quarantine hotels. Eighteen are currently listed.
Travellers who test negative can leave immediately and finish the rest of their 14-day quarantine at home. Those who need to take a connecting domestic flight can book it at this point and fly home.
People who test positive will be required to finish their quarantine at a designated government facility.
